The Most Beautiful Day

Today was the most beautiful day we've seen since arriving in Beijing. After last night's heavy rains, the sky was a gorgeous blue. Perhaps the government's experiments with cloud-seeding really will bring clear skies for the Games. (There is a prediction that the locusts will be hatching around early August, however, so Mother Nature may have the last laugh.) With a sky like this, it was really hard to go in to work. We got out a little early (6pm) and Jessica and I were able to go to the tailor for our first fitting. I'm having him make some minor adjustments to my pants, shorts, and shirts, but they are going to fit really well when he's done. And I'm very happy with the t-shirts and polos he tailored.

Peter's husband Francesco arrived in Beijing this week, so the three of us went to Obiwan for dinner and one drink. Unfortunately, a private party had the whole roof deck occupied, so we ate at the second floor lounge, but it was not crowded, and the food was good. It was good to see Francesco after two years. I haven't seen him since the night before I left Torino.
