Sun. Aug. 17 Jared, Joey, Trevor, Mirjam and I saw Gymnastics Finals: Men's Floor (which we missed because we arrived late,) Men's Pommel Horse, Women's Vault, and Women's Floor. We had a great time, then headed over to Athletics, where we watched Men's High Jump, Women's Steeplechase, and more!

Mon. Aug. 18 Jared, Joey, and I had dinner at UBC coffee, and dropped in to Worker's Stadium for the end of the Brazil/Argentina football game. Afterwards, we went to the Saddle for drinks, where my Gap co-worker Belinda's sister Patricia from Brazil (and friends) met me and took me to The Beach for a private party with Brazilian media people and athletes.
Tues. Aug. 19 Drew and I took in the Diving Finals for Men's 3M Springboard, and then I headed to Saddle again for Taco Tuesdays. Unfortunately, they were out of tortilla shells! We had a margarita, headed out to Butterfly in Sanlitun, and then to Club Bud, the Budweiser House. We danced until late, and Michael Phelps was there, though I never saw him because they'd circled up some cabana chairs for him and his friends and roped off the corner.
Wed. Aug. 20 It was time for another break from events, so I went with a big gang to China People's Palace, one of our CoSport hotels, and had fun bowling. I bowled nearly 10 strikes over several games. Maybe I should take up bowling!

Thursday, Aug. 21 Peter and I had a massage after work at Dragonfly, and I headed to the Women's Football (soccer) Final to see USA defeat Brazil 1-0. Directly after that, it was another night of dancing with the athletes at Club Bud. Only a few more days to enjoy the party atmosphere of the end of the games. As athletes finish their competitions, they're out on the town shopping and partying. Jessica ran into the whole USA Swimming Team at Starbucks this morning!
While I'm in Beijing, my nephews are having a great summer becoming the cutest little guys imaginable! I can't wait to spend some time with them when I get back!
